Navigate California’s Climate Disclosure Mandates with Confidence

Companies with over $500M in annual revenue that do business in California must begin reporting climate-related disclosures in 2026. The new mandates apply to public and private companies, registered in the U.S., as follows:

  • SB 253 – Requires annual Scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions disclosures for companies with $1B+ revenue. Initial Scope 1 and Scope 2 disclosures are due by August 10, 2026, per CARB guidance.

  • SB 261 – Requires biennial climate-related financial risk disclosures for companies with $500M+ revenue. Enforcement of SB 261 is currently stayed pending ongoing litigation.
