Progress on the PRI

Verability helps clients with all facets of implementing a responsible investing program based on the United Nations Principles on Responsible Investing (PRI).  A selection of our services to help clients progress on individual Principles can be found below.

 

Principle 1: We will incorporate ESG issues into investment analysis and decision-making processes.

To support the integration of ESG considerations into the investment process Verability provides:

  • ESG investing policy and formalized guidelines

  • Scenario analysis of ESG factors including future climate-related risks and opportunities

  • Methodologies to integrate ESG including climate-related data into investment decision making

  • Assessment of external managers’ ESG approaches

  • Tools to systematically monitor ESG investing by external investment managers

Principle 2: We will be active owners and incorporate ESG issues into our ownership policies and practices.

Verability provides the following services to aid progress under Principle Two:

  • Engagement strategies and tools to encourage portfolio companies’ management of ESG issues

  • Custom proxy voting guidelines on environmental, social and governance topics

  • Metrics and monitoring process for active ownership practices

  • Evaluation of external managers active ownership 

Principle 3: We will seek appropriate disclosure on ESG issues by the entities in which we invest.

We can help firms assess the various methods and venues available for encouraging ESG disclosure from companies:

  • Recommend investor initiatives aimed at increasing ESG disclosure by portfolio companies

  • Establish engagement strategies to encourage company or industry participation in and compliance with a number of relevant norms, standards and codes.

  • Develop a framework to encourage standardized corporate reporting on ESG issues 

Principle 4: We will promote acceptance and implementation of the Principles within the investment industry.

  • Integrate ESG criteria into searches, contracts , incentives, and evaluation processes for service providers

  • Identify opportunities to encourage peer organizations to consider responsible investing and ESG issues

  • Assessments of external managers and consultants ESG approach

Principle 5: We will work together to enhance our effectiveness in implementing the Principles.Scheduled

Verabilty can recommend formal and informal collaborative shareholder initiatives as well as industry associations

Principle 6:   We will each report on our activities and progress towards implementing the Principles.

Verability can help with and lead on report writing for multi-stakeholder audiences, clients, and reporting to the PRI assessment.
